Just over a year ago I attended this “workshop” by StoresOnline, a U.S. company specialising in providing hosting/storebuilding/shopping cart/payment processing in one package.
Remembered very clearly how I was mesmerized by their speeches of the ‘wonders’ of doing business online. They went through some basic information about Internet marketing, how to draw traffic and such, etc, which I fanatically jot down on the free files they gave to us. Very impressive, or so I thought then. Now I realized that its just a marketing technique to get newcomers hyped up by supplying information that the latter does not know.
They then proceed to have video testimonials shown to the audience, with StoresOnline hiring one successful merchant to talk about his experiences and how to start an online business; keyword research, niche markets, internet advertising, PPC…etc.
Then they start to talk about the prices and such, stating that they have an exclusive package/offer if we order today…the usual pressure sales pitches. I fall for it, and at the end of the day, I brought a package worth thousands.
Did I regret taking out my money? Yes and No. I will talk more about it later.
