Just finished my second article for the day a few hours ago.

Spent quite some time tweaking my site the last few days, now really got to move ahead and get back with article marketing. Since submitting the review article of Secret Affiliate Weapon, I have not been writing…Embarassed

Another thing I realized is that the articles I wrote so far are rather long…averaging at more than 850 words, with my longest at 1350 words. So now, for the next 10 articles (I will be finishing them by this Friday) I will cut short and max out at 750 words.

This will help to improve the readership of my articles and also be able to write more in a day.

Now, got to try to finish 2 more articles by tonight.

After posting my Secret Affiliate Weapon review, I have spent the last 5 days understanding CSS, tweaking the CSS files of my blog to improve the appearance…ask around in the forums at Wordpress.org on the programming aspects behind Wordpress and such.

I like to highlight that I managed to get Gravatar 2.6 from Skippy.net working and positioned well in the comments section of my blog. Before this, the Gravatars was all over the place, and my initial attempts to edit the code either messed up the appearance or my blog will not load at all.

All thanks again to Wordpress.org Forums. Here's the request for help and the solution to go with it. If you are using OceanMist V1.1 and intend to use Gravatar, maybe you can learn something from the post I made.

Also managed to get the Subscribe Me plugin positioned correctly, through CSS. Its the orange button at the top-right of my site, where you place your mouse over it and a menu of subscription feeds will drop down. It's much tidier to have all of them in one place than to have all those buttons all over the place.

Seriously, once you start to understand the code, you will realize how convenient it will be if you use CSS to work out the colour and layout of your site or blog. So, learn CSS!

I guess most of us have came across those "$10K for just an hour a day…" kind of statements.

It's either junk, or that TONS of effort and time have been spent to get the business up and running, before you can start to slack a bit to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Just read the following discussion at WarriorForum.com

http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=130973

"Work hard to plow the land, build up and fertilize the soil, plant the seed and help it to grow big. Then you just have to water it everyday…"

Working towards that!

I have just installed quite a couple of new plugins, but have not list them under the category Plugins as I have not managed to get them working correctly or fully understand what they do.

Still do not really know what Ultimate Tag Warrior and Subscribe does…

Managed to install Gravatars, but both not appearing as I would like to.

Added a couple of new categories to better organise all the posts here. Several new categories…

  • Article Marketing (changed from Articles)
  • Headaches…(all the headaches and heartaches and anything with fear, hate, anger…)
  • Plugins (Posts which I installed and made life easier for me)
  • Recommendations & Advice (yep, as stated)
  • Search Engine Optimization (Any post that got to do with ranking in Search Engines)

Hope that will help readers find what they want here.

Not sure if it was a glitch at their side…but my article which they initially stated as being too self-promotional is approved and sent out.

Great!

Saved me quite a headache!

It just dawn on me that when I can't immediately see the comments I posted appear on a site, it can be quite annoying.

I guess that applies to the visitors who came here. I have changed the settings so that when you post comments, it will be posted online immediately instead of waiting for me to approve it.

Just hope that Askimet will catch the spammers! Got a couple of stupid ones when I first opened this blog back at Wordpress.com last month, so that's why I set all comments to be in the holding area till I approve them.

From now on, all comments posted will appear immediately.

Sorry for any inconveniences caused!

20 days ago, I started an experiment to see if Article Marketer.com's submission service is more effective in distributing my articles than if I do so myself.

Today is 26 Jan, and now we will see how well Article Marketer.com has distributed my articles.

Here's the original post on the experiment.

Here are the results for my article titled "Why Some of Us Lose in Affiliate Programs Before Even Starting", which I submitted using only Article Marketer.com 16 days ago.

I searched for the results using the query "Why Some of Us Lose in Affiliate Programs Before Even Starting"+"Thien Kai Wei".

Google: 162 results

Yahoo: 342 results

Live/MSN: 12 results.

Lets compare with the article I submitted manually to 25 directories on 6th Jan.

I used the following search query "What's Your Problem? Yourself"+"Thien Kai Wei" and here are the results 16 days later on the 22th Jan

Google: 137

Yahoo: 110

Live/MSN: 28

As you can see…the results do not really differ much, except for Yahoo.com.

Granted, this experiment is not really conducted professionally, or accurately, and so the results may not reflect the real numbers.

But the numbers really makes me wonder if I should resubscribe to Article Marketer.com, especially since they have pushed the price of the quaterly subscription back to $74.99, nearly double the price I paid last December.

I guess I will be trying out another service after my current subscription ends.

As I stated in yesterday's post, I am searching for ways to implement meta tags into Wordpress, to add in description and keyword tags to attract the search engines.

I am very wrong.

pizdin_dim at Wordpress.org forums responded to my questions about using Head Meta Description plugin saying the following.

Quote:

"And how do I add meta tags for keywords?"

I wouldn't worry about it. No search engine worth it's salt uses them anymore. Also, see the article from search engine watch for more.

Here is the link to the article at SearchEngineWatch.com

Also, if you do a search at Highranking forums on this topic, it's mentioned LOTS of times that meta-tags don't matter anymore as it was misused very badly.

Learnt something again today. Hope you have too.

So I guess I can forget about all these meta-tag thingy! Back to article marketing and fixing all the syndication stuff!

Just to side track on the topic of the earlier post about why anyone should not rely on Google or the results of any other search engine to provide you with the majority of your traffic to your website.

They make changes now and then, and if they do so your site may be wiped off from the results altogether…along with your income.

Jill summed it up well with the following phrase…

"Unfortunately, Google giveth, and Google taketh away. gavel.gif"

This discussion here over at HighRankings.com forums demonstrates and explains why this is so.

Strongly recommend you take a look.

But for me though…ranking well in search engines and article marketing will be my main focus for now…why diversify when I have not even master these two basic methods right?
