My Cause

Hi there!

My idea behind blogging down my own ventures online is to provide, amongst all the hype and sale pitches, a realistic insight into what setting up an online business is like for an average Singaporean from a middle-income family.

I remembered very clearly back in Nov 2005, I was “brainwashed” into the wonders of setting up an online business during one of the “workshops” conducted by StoresOnline, a U.S. based company providing a suite of web hosting, online storebuilder software, stats tracking.

“HAVE A PROFITABLE WEB STORE EARNING YOU THOUSANDS WITHIN 6 MONTHS!”

“EXPERIENCE THE FREEDOM THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS A MONTH CAN GIVE YOU WHEN YOU SET UP AN ONLINE STORE!”

Well, I managed to get an online store up selling wooden toys after almost a year. WRONG CHOICE! With so many competitors around (just Google “wooden toys”) and knowing nothing about marketing my site, I realized I did things the other way round.

I should have learn marketing techniques first before I set up any store, not setting up the store and find out I am competing with VERY well established competitors and do not know how to get customers to my site.

Now slightly wiser in some areas (NEVER DUMP $5000 WITHOUT GOING HOME AND DO EXTENSIVE RESEARCH!!!), I am learning internet marketing and applying those skills in affiliate programs. The affiliate program I am currently concentrating on is Success University.

One big reason why I am pursuing Success University is I have a group of mentors in Singapore who have achieve very good performance and results with Success University. This will really make learning much easier and faster as I have someone experienced to consult with.

Update*05 July 2007

It has been 6 months since I wrote the above statement, and I have experienced and learnt new and important lessons. (World Internet Summit Singapore 2007 being the biggest WAKE-UP call)

It’s about time this page has an update, along with a new direction for InternetMarketing4Noobs.Com.

InternetMarketing4Noobs.Com will still provide, amongst the hype and junk out there on the Internet, a realistic insight into what setting up an online business is like. You wouldn’t find me posting blatantly promoting Internet Marketing eBooks/courses which I have never used before. I’m not out to get your money (like so many others out there…you know what I mean ;P). Just raw personal experiences and how I achieved what I have so far.

InternetMarketing4Noobs.Com will provide information on how to tackle the problems faced by most Internet Marketing Noobs / Newbies. The troubles Noobs/Newbies have to face based on my experiences and the solutions I have used to tackle them.

Lastly, I realized finding the right quality information is getting harder these days. I feel that those of us new to Internet Marketing are especially vulnerable as they have not yet learn to discriminate real, useful information from worthless/tainted information used by “conmen” only to sell them useless junk, wasting time and money. (You know…all those “bonuses” you see around, used to push sales? And some of those “workshops” which are nothing more than pressurized sales pitches. StoresOnline being a PRIME example.)

InternetMarketing4Noobs.Com will also provide information on (If you are new to Internet Marketing) how to understand what you really need, find what you need, and get the RIGHT INFORMATION in the internet marketing jungle out there.
