Discover the 4 Common Pitfalls Most Affiliate Marketing Beginners Fall into

Most people who are venturing online to earn money through Affiliate Marketing, or any other Internet business, have common misconceptions and make mistakes that will kill off any chances of success, even before they start.

This article will explain why having unrealistic expectations kills, why attempting everything will not do anything, why you cannot rest on your laurels for long and lastly making choices only after some research.

After reading through, I hope you will know what to avoid and give your first venture as an Affiliate Marketer a bigger chance of success.

Unrealistic expectations

"I quit my job 2 months ago, and earning more than ever!!"

"I hit one million in sales revenue in 2006!!"

The guy who quit his job 2 months ago probably has been promoting different affiliate products for close to a year before earning a substantial amount to enable him to quit his day job. Whoever earns 1 million in a single year most likely will have worked in the Internet Marketing industry for years to have the knowledge and experience to produce that amount of revenue.

There are realistic reasons behind these statements, or they are just plain rubbish. You will have to think carefully and not let loud claims clog your mind about achieving instant-cash or quick success. You will have to work hard, just like any other business.

Trying everything at one go…

There are numerous ways to promote your affiliate products. Search Engine Optimization, Article Marketing, active participation in forums, Pay-Per-Click advertising, email advertising…just to name a few.

When you read up on all these promotion methods and how effective they can be, you may attempt to try all of them in one go. Unfortunately, each method will only be effective when you master them, and attempting to master everything at once is a tall order indeed.

Select one or two methods to study and practice, once you feel comfortable with them then you move on to try new ways to advertise your affiliate products.

Resting on your laurels

You may be promoting a particular affiliate product for months and earning a substantial amount from it, and so thinking about having a break. Unbeknown to you an marketing campaign for a superior affiliate product has been going on for some time, and when the product launches, visitors flock to the new product and you get left behind in the dust.

The Internet has quickened the pace which trends come and go. What may be popular for a few months may be unseated by another for the next few. You must constantly monitor the market to know what is coming up, and prepare to be the first few to promote it to gather the most traffic, and sales, as possible.

Do some research first!

You may want to check out some eBooks on Internet Marketing to quicken your pace of learning, and you inevitably read the sales copy of these eBooks.

As above, sales copies can give you unrealistic expectations…they are very effective at getting your wallets out too. Sales copies have loud claims of success, testimonials and using big numbers to convince you that the product being promoted is the best available.

Please just hold back your wallet. Find and read at least read review on the product you almost brought to make sure your money is well spent. You will not doubt save some money or even avoid falling into scams.

If you are indeed looking for an eBook package on Internet Marketing that costs less than $10 and has some of the best and largest amount information available, I strongly recommend you check out my review. The link is available in my author's bio.
